Local Danger Areas
Updated now that the QinetiQ information page has been removed:From 1 July 2010 (AIRAC 7/2010), additional segregated airspace in the vicinity of Boscombe Down aerodrome and to the south of
the existing Salisbury Plain Danger Area complex have been introduced. This development establishes additional Danger Areas and an
adjustment to the upper limit of one existing Danger Area; it has been introduced to accommodate flights by MoD operated Unmanned
Aircraft Systems (UAS).

EG D120 is wholly contained within the Boscombe Down ATZ and extends from the surface up to 2000 ft AAL (Boscombe Down
QFE), which equates to 2407 ft AMSL. The Danger Area will be activated by NOTAM in order to segregate the departure and recovery
phases of UAS flights at Boscombe Down Aerodrome. All extant regulations associated with flight within an ATZ remain applicable.
EG D122 projects south from the existing Salisbury Plain Danger Area complex (EG D123, 125 & 126) as indicated on the chart
overleaf. The Danger Area is divided geographically into 3 sections from west to east (A, B and C) and extends vertically from FL 80 to FL
160; a further level split at FL 120 creates 6 sub-areas in total. The airspace will be activated by NOTAM, normally with no more than 2
adjacent sections activated at any one time.
The upper level to which EGD 126 (Bulford) can be activated by NOTAM has been increased to FL 90.
A Danger Area Crossing Service (DACS) will be available when the airspace is activated
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) will be issuing the necessary aeronautical amendments alongside an appropriate press release. Further information on the regulatory decision and an overview of the proposal may be found on the CAA website link below.
